If you are hanging out in the Tuolumne meadows area of Yosemite National park and want to checkout a less intense, less crowded hike- Dog Lake is a good choice. The trail starts at Lembert Dome and is around 1.5 miles one way and has around 600 feet elevation. The views at the end of the trail are stunning. This may depend on the season you visit. If you dont want to be eaten alive by mosquitoes- bring your Deet sprays along. This area is heavily infected with mosquitoes. This a serene lake with very few visitors. A perfect spot for a late afternoon swim- especially if you have been camping and haven't had access to a shower.

There was a slight wind causing ripples in the water.
If you are in this vicinity, a visit to Tenaya Lake is a must. It is surrounded by granite peaks and is nestled at 8150 feet. If you get there in late summer (July-August) you must take a dip in its cool waters. At first it feels frigid and cold but is really refreshing. There is a small beach shore along with some benches. This is nowhere near a great picture of Tenaya Lake. Unfortunately for me, i was here when the sun was high. The underlying silt and pebbles made a nice color in contrast to that of the sky and the rocks. If you visit late evening you may get a a crisp blue shot of Tenaya Lake.
