Golden Gate - a different perspective

If you live in the bay area and photography is one of your hobbies- you have probably shot GG a few hundred times and a few hundred ways. Late in March, i headed to the city one afternoon hoping for pouring rain. I was inspired by this mysterious pic . Unfortunately, by the time I drove out there it was bright and sunny. I drove around and decided to head over to Fort Point National Historic Site.

I had always wondered how to get there when I was on top of GG bridge. Everytime I visited GG bridge i had to skip this point for lack of time. This time, I headed straight to this point. )Parking is free here btw, and there is a short trail to the main south side upper level parking lot.)

Fort Point
Fort Point is a nice place to visit. Its got some good views of the length of the bridge. It gets extremely windy here. A time lapse from here would be beautiful but this site closes at 5pm.  The arches make a nice background although the courtyard is not symmetric which is offers a new challenge.

Once you step out, you are right at the base of the GG bridge. While I could have done the more traditional shots, I was more inclined to try something else.
As I walked along the road leading to Fort Point- I noticed that the chain link had a thick coating of rust. I intended to capture this with the GG in the background. Although, after post processing, I couldn't make up my mind between BW and color, I think BW has a slight edge.
